Notice to JSSC from High Court on PIL seeking investigation into JSSC CGL paper leak

Ranchi: A public interest litigation filed in the High Court seeking investigation into the paper leak during the JSSC CGL examination held on January 28 this year was heard on Tuesday. During the hearing, the court issued a notice to JSSC and directed it to file a reply. The court will now hear the case on December 3. Senior advocates Ajit Kumar and Aparajita Bhardwaj argued on behalf of the applicants. Advocate Sanjoy Piperwal argued on behalf of JSSC. Actually, the state government had conducted the JSSC CGL examination in January, in which the matter of paper leak came to light. After which the police investigated the matter.

An SIT of seven police officers including three DSPs was formed to investigate the paper leak case. The SIT has also submitted its investigation report to the court.

It is noteworthy that the paper of the Combined Graduate Level Exam (SSC-CGL) conducted by the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission on January 28 was leaked. After this, the commission first cancelled the third paper i.e. the general knowledge exam. After the uproar of the candidates, the commission had to cancel the examination of all three papers. Through this SSC-CGL exam, 2025 posts were to be appointed in various departments of the state government. Six and a half lakh candidates had applied for this. In this paper leak case, the SIT of Ranchi Police arrested Jharkhand Assembly Under Secretary Mohammad Shamim and his two sons in the month of February itself. Admit cards of many candidates, blank cheques with many names and some mobile phones were recovered from them.
